Advanced Twitter Tools – TweetMiner

January 9th, 2010

I just found TweetMiner today. It is quite a handy twitter tool. Why is it so handy? It does what many of us do manually on a daily basis. Combines the power of our RSS feed reader and twitter. TweetMiner makes it super easy to browse your RSS Feed and share the good stuff with your twitter friends.

The interface is quick and clean. It also allows you to schedule some tweets for the future. I know, many don’t get the idea behind scheduling tweets yet. Especially since so many spammers are using it improperly. But if you use it right, scheduling tweets is very powerful.

Watch the video for a quick demonstration of the power of TweetMiner.

TweetMiner can help you with content discovery by searching and watching keyword streams and integrating RSS feeds into your twitter interface. TweetMiner can help you schedule tweets on a regular basis or at a point in time. Do you have 10 friends that have birthdays coming up? Schedule a tweet today so you don’t forget to tweet them Happy Birthday in the future.

TweetMiner has many other features. Just check out the home page and watch a few of the excellent demonstration videos. In a matter of seconds, you can sign up. In a matter of minutes you will feel at ease in the simple interface.

How to Schedule Tweets

January 8th, 2010

Why should you schedule tweets? Doesn’t that take away form the interaction? Does it defeat the purpose of twitter? Some might argue, but personally, I think there are many good reasons to schedule a tweet. The catch is that you need to use twitter in real time too. Use scheduled tweets sparingly, but they can save you a lot of time.

Here are some examples of effective tweet scheduling:

  • Plan for a product launch and count down the days
  • Tease your followers by mentioning an upcoming blog post or podcast
  • Tweet a Birthday wish to your buddies and actually do it on their Birthday
  • Plan ahead for #WoofWednesday, #followFriday so you don’t forget anyone important
  • Send a reminder to yourself since you are always on twitter and ignore your calendar
  • Make time for dinner so you try something other than delivered pizza

TweetMiner is great way to schedule tweets directly from your RSS feed. Load your RSS feed into TweetMiner, review the feed articles, and share the ones that are worthy of your tweets. Many of us get content from our feed reader and then share the content as we read it. Google Reader already supports this. However, if you read your RSS feeds in the morning and evening like I do, you tend to tweet a lot in short intervals. With TweetMiner you can plan to tweet throughout the day with all the interesting articles your RSS feed reader provides. TweetMiner does quite a bit more…try TweetMiner for Free!

Twaitter lets you schedule future tweets and keep track of them on their Tweet Calendar. Twaitter works with your twitter login so you don’t need to sign-up for an account. This means that each twitter account is separate. If you want to post to more than one account it requires that you log out and log in with a different account. Not a big deal, but something to think about if you have multiple accounts. Twaiter includes a spellchecker, URL shortener and even a language translator.
